The Lil' Chargers Youth Football Association was founded in 2008.  Our purpose is to provide youth football to the
young men and women of the Jefferson County North, USD 339 school district.  We compete in the Midland Empire
Youth League as well non-league games with other Northeast Kansas area football organizations.  Our home games
are played at Jefferson County North High School in Winchester, Kansas.  We are a registered section 501c Non

Directors

Lil' Chargers YFA is governed by a Board of Directors
consisting of two founding directors serving with tenure and one
at large director serving a one year term appointment.

The at large director is appointed by unanimous vote of the
founding directors and is a parent or grand-parent of a current
Lil Charger athlete.

The guiding management principle of the Lil'Chargers is that all
decisions are made by unanimous consent of the board, for the
good of the Lil Chargers YFA.

Directors Notes
The Lil' Chargers traveled to King City,
Missouri on the 10th and came away with a
54-6 victory over the Wildcats despite 35
degree weather and 20 mph winds.
We finish the regular season on
Wednesday October 14th against the Effing-
ham Tigercubs, 7:00 pm kickoff.

Our second annual fall Mums sale is well
along.  This fundraiser is especially important
this year because of our equiment expansion.

Lil' Chargers

We started the Lil'Chargers in 2008.  It has been a
success from the very beginning.  Our boys love playing
football and the Lil' Chargers parents have worked
tirelessly to insure that the boys have the very best
equipment.

This organization is dedicated to providing a high quality
youth football experience for the boys and girls of the
USD 339 school district.  We work extremely hard, so a
commitment to the Lil' Chargers should not be taken
lightly.  We treat each boy like our own sons and the
coaching staff is demanding.

Our calling card as a team, is a swarm of Kelly green
helmets on every tackle and knockdown blocking on
offense. We are very proud that win or lose, our
opponents come away knowing that they have been in a
football game.  The coaching staff received compliments
week after week from opposing staffs on our boy's hard
nosed play..

The Lil' Chargers were the youngest, smallest team in the
MEYFL....but no push over.  In fact, the Green was a
rude surprise for more than one long-standing football
program.  We also teach our boys to win and lose like
gentlemen, and they do.

Schedule

We play a schedule that is as good or better than any High
School program (see the 2008 page).  Tough competition
against big St Joseph schools, and a few non-league
games against local opponents such as Easton and
Lansing.  We finished our first season 6-4 and on a 3
game win streak (including 2 shutouts and 10 consecutive
scoreless quarters).

For parents, football season is tough.  Practice three days
per week and games on the weekend.  It is an inescapable
fact that where football is concerned, hard
work.....works.

The boys love every minute.  After we defeated Mid
Buchanan 26-0 to finish 2008, several boys cried because
they couldn't go to practice on the following Tuesday.
My advice to parents is to embrace the hard work and
enjoy the product on Saturday, because there is nothing
better than a football Saturday with our boys......

Finance

Fund-raising has gone better than any of us had hoped,
we are in great shape.  Because of that, we will be able to
hold the line on the best value in Pee Wee football.  A lot
of folks deserve thanks, but from where I sit, Kelly
Robertson, Paula Larson and Sara Noll really worked hard
this year....thanks girls.

1st year Lil' Chargers will pay $125.00.  Second and
subsequent year players will pay $75.00.  Each boy keeps
his game jersey ($40.00 value).  Team fees for this area
range from $200.00 in McClouth to nearly $400.00 per
player in Kansas City.  We work hard at fundraising and
expect everyone to pitch in.

As far as capital purchases go, we will expand our
equipment to cover additional boys and expansion to a
second team if needed.  The directors have approved
purchase of an alternate set of game jerseys (White) to
share between teams.  We will continue to allow boys to
keep their primary game jersey every year. We are also
considering a purchase of blocking/ tackling dummies, so
as not to be dependent on the High School.

Long-term, we continue to plan for the purchase of land
and construction of a home field for the Lil' Chargers.
The USD 339 school district has been more than generous
with facilities and we will be dependent on them for some
time to come.  However, the experience of other Youth
Football organizations is that they outgrow the school
facilities.  We are preparing for that day.

Come out and support the Boys!

Go Chargers!
