MEYFL - Midland Empire Youth Football League

Lil' Chargers Finish Pre-season 4-0

The Lil Chargers finished the 2009 pre-season
4-0.  After our slow start in 2008 we decided to
make sure that the Green is hitting on all
cylinders right from the start in 2009.

Lil' Chargers 36 Southside 6.

I have called Ridge Robertson the fastest kid
in Kansas...Southside agrees with me.

Lil' Chargers 13 Platte County 6

The 1st game of the Savannah Jamboree.  We
were excited to play a team from the truly
great Platte County Organization.

Lil' Chargers 18 Savannah 0

Savannah had a plan to stop us outside, but
they had trouble with #6 between the tackles.

2009 Regular Season

Lil' Chargers 20 Mid Buchannan 6

The Lil Charger Offense struck quickly, then
followed that with a 15 play, 85 yard drive on
the second series and we didn't look back.
Bobby Kiser racked up 118 yards rushing on
13 carries to go with fumble recoveries by
Ridge Robertson, Sam Larson and Hunter
Dean.  Great win to open 2009.

Lil' Chargers 12  Maryville 0

The Lil' Charger defense was at its bend but
don't break best with a pivotal goal line stand
in the first quarter and forcing 4 hound
turnovers.  The offense struggled with a very
physical Maryville front 4, but managed two
long touchdowns by Ridge Robertson and
some good ball control in the second half to
eat up clock and get the win at St Joseph.

Lil' Chargers 28  Lawrence 6

Our first home game of the season against the
Lawrence Youth Football League's "Red
Raiders" was a huge success.  We had great
support from our fans and the Lil' Chargers
did what they do; tough inside running, speed
on the perimeter and an aggressive blitzing
defense.....a great job by our 2nd graders,
who played significant time on offense and
defense against a big physical Lawrence team
and held their own.

Eastside  20  Lil' Chargers  7

We got off to a very slow start against an
excellent, well coached football team.  The Lil'
Chargers finished strong but it was not
enough against the Warriors.  Down 20-0 after
10 minutes, the defense responded to
dominate play the rest of the way and the
offense showed some good progress working
from the spread offense, which our High
School has adopted.

Platte County  13  Lil' Chargers  6

We played a very good game on both sides of
the ball against the best team in the MEYFL
and ended the Pirates unscored on streak.
Savannah  33  Lil' Chargers  12

We played our worst game of the year against a very
good, very big Savannah team.

Lil' Chargers 18  Atchison 0

The boys broke a 3 game losing streak with a great
defensive performance.  Sam Larson led the charge with
2 fumble recoveries.  Bob Kiser led the offense with 88
yards on 12 Carries and a touchdown pass to Boston
Lane.

Lil' Chargers 54 King City  6

As dominant as the defense was at Atchison, the green
offense overcame bitter weather conditions to roll over
Wild Kats, scoring on every possession.  Ridge
Robertson scored 4 touchdowns, and Colby Weishaar
scored his first career touchdown.
